Marco Costanzi portrait designer Fendi Casa

Marco Costanzi

furniture designer

Marco Costanzi graduated in Florence with an experimental thesis on “Japanese gardens architecture”, which led him to a years-long, deep investigation of Japanese aesthetic and rituals. He worked for over thirty years in the fashion industry, designing retail spaces for brands like Fendi, Dior and Givenchy, residences and prestigious offices across the globe. A work based on the constant search for ever-changing forms and languages. An experimental vision which allowed him to embrace multiple disciplines such as design and interior design without ever losing an identity deeply rooted in modern architecture history. He designed for FENDI Casa, along with the Kurkum and Ginger kitchens, the lamp collection Velum, a concept as simple as folding a veil, “velum”, on a small source of light. The lampshade is made from a hand-folded leather sheet and its shape is obtained from the outline of one of the most iconic bags from FENDI. The bent metal stem is light and tilted, giving the object a unique dynamism. In its floor version, the stem is enriched of leather detailing, covering the metal surface. The project was born in 2016 as a site-specific piece for the FENDI Rome Private Suites.

“Is not the form that prevails, but rather its presence in the space. I do not care about the finishing line but about the journey”
